Recognition Societies

Saint Angela Merici Heritage Society

Angela Merici

The founder of all Ursuline Sisters, Saint Angela Merici, decided from the beginning to include partners in the Company of Saint Ursula. Even in 1535, her vision of reaching out to poor women and children in Brescia, Italy, included lay women and laymen to have a direct role in the Company. Following her inspiration, the Ursuline Sisters established the Saint Angela Heritage Society to recognize the donors who decide to partner with us through a bequest or other form of planned gift. These donors are leaders by their support of the future mission as well as the present.

Lifetime Membership in the Saint Angela Heritage Society is offered to those who invest in the fullest possible way to the Ursuline Sisters by:

  • Remembering the Ursuline Sisters in their will.
  • Making a planned gift to the Ursuline Sisters (a trust, gift annuity, insurance policy, retirement plan beneficiary designation, etc.), or
  • Making an outright or cumulative gift of $5,000 or more for a specific endowment or purpose.


With a gift of $10,000 or more, a donor can name a specific endowment fund for the purpose or memorial designation of the donor's choice.

Other Societies of Donors

A donor gives from his/her treasure to support the mission of the Ursuline Sisters according to their means and out of a generous spirit of partnership in the mission. All gifts are valued and published for recognition in the fall issue of the Ursulines Alive magazine unless the donor states a preference for anonymity. They are listed according to the following gift amounts:

        • Founders        ($25,000+)
        • Benefactors   ($10,000 - 24,999)
        • Patrons           ($5,000 - 9,999)
        • Investors         ($2,500 - 4,999)
        • Providers        ($1,000 - 2,499)
        • Sponsors        ($500 - 999)
        • Supporters      ($250 - 499)
        • Contributors   ($100 - 249)
        • Friends             ($1 - 99)

All donors are recognized in the daily prayer intentions and special liturgies at the Motherhouse Chapel during the year. The Sisters invite all donors to an annual program and liturgy at the Motherhouse to express our thanks.
