Welcome to Mount Saint JosephIntranetThis Day in Maple Mount History
Each day during 2012, in honor of the Centennial
Feb. 4, 1937: “The sisters from St. Columba in Louisville reached St. Angela's Home on Jan. 31st, they traveled more than three hours by foot and truck. They had been without heat for five days, surrounded by 8 feet of water. Basements of the convent and school are full of sewage, a veritable cesspool. Horrible experience.”
Feb. 5, 1923: In the afternoon, bridal party arrived and practiced in the Chapel at 7 p.m. The bride is a child of “The Mount.” She came to us an orphan, non-Catholic years ago, having lost both father and mother within a year. To our delight, Annie Evelyn Summerville soon felt at home with us and “The Mount” really became her only home. Three years ago she was baptized and has been a fervent Catholic. The groom, Evan Hazel, is an excellent Catholic and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
