Getting Renewable Energy Education Now
Among those cutting a ribbon for the first G.R.E.E.N.ing Western Kentucky Expo July 28 were Father Larry Hostetter, Sister Amelia Stenger, Sister Michele Morek, Daviess County Judge Executive Reid Haire, Aloma Dew, and Sister Sharon Sullivan. Sister Sharon wove paper cranes from recycled paper to make a long ribbon. In the background was Sister Michele's hybrid car which was on display.
A row of people watch the ribbon cutting in front of Brescia University's Campus Center on Saturday morning. The Expo featured booths, workshops and lunch and took place from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
A sign in front of Brescia announces the Expo.
Sister Philomena Cox and Sister Marie Julie Fecher are helped at the registration table by Sister Mary McDermott.
Some of the sisters picked up information at the Sierra Club booth. Over 40 exhibits were set up inside Brescia's gym. At right is Charlene Meadows, a community activist who has attended the rally to close the SOA.
Ron Mayhew, left, representing the Owensboro Museum of Science and History, shows Expo visitors his parrot named Gaia. It can be seen perched on the man's shoulder. He also brought a snake which can be seen in an aquarium in the background.
