'St. Benedict Shelter'

Above and below: Sister Suzanne Sims talks to a young man who came to sleep at the St. Benedict Joseph homeless shelter at Seventh and Sycamore Streets in Owensboro. Sister Suzanne and Sister Marietta Wethington volunteer at the shelter, which was opened last winter by committee members of St. Pius, St. Stephen, and St. Joseph and Paul. The shelter is open from 6 p.m.-6 a.m. nightly through the end of March.

Volunteers needed at the
St. Benedict Joseph Homeless Shelter
 in Owensboro

Help needed on-site daily from 8 p.m.-1 a.m. and from
1 a.m.-6 a.m. Other needs include meal preparation, housekeeping, laundry, and transportation.

The shelter will open November 1.
